Chinese-Inspired Wedding at The Floridian Social | St. Petersburg Wedding Photographer




Some brides walk into their wedding looking like a bride. She walked in looking like the main character.

The Floridian Social was already giving us old theatre, moody corners, vintage details and a little bit of drama. Then she showed up in a deep red wedding dress with a matching veil and completely changed the temperature of the room.

It was cinematic in the best possible way.


But underneath all the drama and ridiculously good fashion, the day was also a beautiful reflection of her Chinese heritage. Her culture was woven into the wedding in a way that felt personal to her rather than like a checklist of traditions. The color, the details, the meaning behind what she wore, and the way her family and people came together all became part of the story.


And that’s one of my favorite things about weddings.They don’t have to look like a version of someone else’s wedding.

They can pull from your family, your culture, your history, your weird little obsessions, your favorite place, your favorite people, and somehow turn all of those pieces into one day that could only belong to you. This one just happened to look like a beautifully unhinged gothic movie while doing it.


The red dress.

The vintage theatre.

The flowers.

The family.

The emotion.

The absolute drama.


I was obsessed.


This St. Petersburg wedding at The Floridian Social was a perfect reminder that documentary wedding photography isn’t about making every wedding look the same. It’s about paying attention when someone brings their whole self into the room.


And she definitely did.
